I just wanted to put up a few of our fantastic 2009 hatchlings, which include Cornsnakes, some gorgeous hybrids and California Kingsnakes. Several babies have already eaten 3 times and are ready for their new homes. Feel free to inquire about any of our babies.

Once upon a time there was a large site called Herp-edia.com It was a bold effort to list all the reptile species of the world. It would also include species information, photos and care sheets. Well even 8 years after it was shut down there arent many sites out there that focus on education. Many fancy web sites competing for the commercial market of reptiles but all lack substance. Well Herp-edia.com is returning. I have started putting the pages back on the net. Over time I will bring the glory back to this site. Update changes in the past few years and continue to build based on its original efforts. To learn more about reptiles stop by Herp-edia.com

I strongly feel that now is the time for the reptile community as a whole to come together and form an organization that will look out for and fight for our concerns. An organization with lobbyist and legal muscle. I understand than many are lining up behind the PIJAC and while i agree we need their help with the current fight. I dont feel in the long run their base will support future issues we will come in face with. I dont feel they will stand up for those who keep venomous, or large constrictors when it comes right down to it. I also know that Jeff Barringer is reorganizing the NRAAC yet again this worries me. We all know Jeff all to well and an organization that is solely funded and staffed by one company is dangerous.

I think it is especially important for those in the venomous community to act now and push for such an organization. Our group has run into legislation before that has not gotten the support of those in the non-venomous community. Its too easy for others to say I dont care if they dont allow Venomous or large constrictors.

But now they they are going after the most popular reptile kept “Ball pythons” the largest breeders in the industry that make the most money are all on the fire now. This is why I feel this is the perfect opportunity for us to push for and support the formation of such an organization that will fight for everyones rights. Take advantage of the massive funding base available to get such an organization off of the ground

I dont know how to start such an organization and honestly wouldnt want to start it. However i feel with the support and knowledge of the herp community as a whole such an group could be formed.

USFW moves to severly restrict generas Python, Boa and Eunectes
The US Fish and Wildlife Service is looking into passing regulations banning the importation and interstate transport of all snakes belonging to the genera Python, Boa and Eunectes. This will be a severe blow to the hobby and all efforts to stop such a move should be made. The proposed legislation would make it illegal to move one of these snakes from one state to another in effect destroying all trade in these animals. This should be a concern for all reptiles keepers as a ban of this sort would only be a precursor or presidents for future regulations on other reptiles.

Attached is the USFW proposal in full. Please read it carefully

New Site Additions

I have been making a few additions to the sites lately. As you will see i have added a list of domain names i own and added a few sites i operate. Wisconsin Reptiles site has received a couple of new forums to the lineup. The most important of which is Reptile Health and Wellness forum. Stop by and contribute at WiReptiles.com Last but not least i am adding a new blog system to Venom-Center.com I am hoping to get some of its members involved providing great article on venomous reptiles.

Winter Duldrum

Winter is here and snow has fallen. Dull time for us gardeners. Dont fret the new seed catalogs are becoming available and now is the time to trade with other growers. PepperCenter.com has a great seed swap forum for just this. I soon will be listing seed i have available for trade along with seeds that I am wanting. Remember you can always start your seed early indoors for a jumpstart on the growing season.

Bringing back Pitvipers

Ok Most knew this would happen eventually. I am bringing it back. The most comprehensive venomous reptile community site on the net. I shall be bringing it back under the new name of Venom-Center

Interesting find

Last night while roaming around the net. I came across the way back machine. An archive site for websites of the past. Believe it or not they had both Herp-edia and Pitvipers sites. This is great news for me as I had lost the code and am now able to recapture it. I look back at all the work i had done on those sites and miss them. Yet i look at all the work still to be done and wonder what was i thinking. Anyway very interesting site you should check it out
